I am a proud member of the Helping Horse Board of Directors, serving since September 2019. I serve two roles on the Board: Secretary and Chair of the Development Committee. As Development Committee chair, you may hear from me directly, as we plan fun events at our new, historic and absolutely fabulous farm in Wendell.
How did a city girl like me, raised in New Jersey in a small town close to New York City, get involved with Helping Horse? Well, my answer may be a lot like yours. My granddaughter, Niko, is a real animal lover and longed to ride horses, but we couldn’t find a safe place for her to take lessons… and then, we came across Helping Horse. Niko started riding at 7 years old and progressed so well that she now takes private lessons. Seeing our Helping Horse rider, instructor and volunteer friends is always a highlight of our week. And we love attending all the fun events like Rider RoundUp, BBQ, and the Holiday Festival.
Serving on the Board has given me a whole new appreciation for the dedicated team of volunteers who take such good care of our farm. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you at one of our upcoming events.
