Jill Terry

Board Member and FRV Program Instructor

A Raleigh native, I graduated from Sanderson High School, NC Wesleyan College and got my MBA from Meredith College. I retired as a Communications Mgr. in the pharmaceutical industry (GSK) after 27 years, and worked several years as a part time Grant Writer for the NC Autism Society. I began volunteering at Helping Horse in April of 2021 where I found my post retirement passion–combining my love of children and horses. I volunteer as Side  Walker, Horse Leader, occasionally assist with feeding and am a member of the training team. I also volunteer my grant writing skills towards fundraising for Helping Horse. Through grant writing, my interest in the First Responders and Veterans (FRV) program led me to become an instructor for that program.

What I love most about Helping Horse is the interactions with the inspiring students, amazing volunteers and our hero horses. My hobbies include yoga, trail riding, skiing, and paddle boarding. I enjoy time with friends and family–especially my grand babies. My motto, or what I aspire to be, is someone who makes everyone feel like someone.

If I was a horse, my name would be Mutt (of Mutt & Jeff), because I’m very tall; and my favorite snack would be gummy bears!
