I grew up in Raleigh and started riding hunter jumpers when I was 6 years old. My horse Brick came to Helping Horse in 2019 after I had moved to college in South Carolina (go Furman!), and he has loved his job here ever since! After a gap year in Scotland, I came back to the Triangle, and I am now an Occupational Therapy student at Duke University.
When I’m not in class or riding, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, gardening, and anything crafty! My favorite part of teaching at Helping Horse is watching our riders form bonds with their horses and gain confidence while riding. I can’t wait to continue learning and working with our amazing horses and riders!
If I were a horse my name would be Jiffy, and my favorite snack would be peanut butter!

Riding has helped Kate respond faster and talk loud enough for the horses to hear commands like "walk on!" Each week she meets her horse, Del, at the gate and is ready to ride. Helping Horse really is an awe-inspiring program.
